A Unique Tucson Museum: The Tucson Musicians Museum

Being a unique type of museum, the Tucson Musicians Museum offers visitors an opportunity to look through the history of music in the city, and a chance to keep that history moving forward. The museum has been operated as a non-profit in Tucson since 2007.

Throughout the history of mankind, music has been recognized as a form of communication that surpasses most. The museum strives to provide an avenue of advancement in the lives of our youth throughout life, cultures and musical interests so that they can reach their potential and improve both their lives and the richness of life in the community through music.

These goals are achieved through two paths:

The first path is the operation of a free public museum which each year honors influential inductees who have helped shape our musical heritage, as well as showcasing art and musical artifacts.

The second path is to support and build the nonprofit mission of the Museum. The Community Youth Outreach program is a multifaceted program providing mentorship, access to performance venues, and education programs geared to teach young musicians the elements needed to succeed as a musician. Through charitable donations, the Museum can help underprivileged young musicians obtain instruments they may not otherwise be able to afford, accessto instruction, mentorship, and performance opportunities.

You can find much more information on their website at https://tucsonmusiciansmuseum.org/, and you can reach them during operating hours at (520) 906-7394. Their website also offers links to the Tucson Musicians Museum on their Instagram and Facebook pages. Those pages will provide you with up to date info on the wide variety of performances planned, as well as a look at some of the other art work being showcased.

Several of the musicians and members of the community have donated and shared several hundred items including pictures, memorabilia and even their very own personal instruments. The future looks bright (with or without shades). Each year, the presence in the community grows stronger. Ongoing efforts are being made to continue this outstanding celebration of music and culture in Tucson.

Located at 260 South Church Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85701, the Tucson Musicians Museum is, of course, in the Downtown neighborhood, but is also convenient to the Pie Allen, El Presidio, Iron Horse, Barrio Viejo and Barrio Libre Neighborhoods.
