The historic Sam Hughes neighborhood in east-central Tucson occupies a square mile just east of the University of Arizona campus.
Built out between the 1920s and 1950s, Sam Hughes is home to 24-acre Himmel Park, which has a public pool, tennis courts and recreational fields. The popular 3rd Street bicycle boulevard also bisects the neighborhood as part of its 6.5 miles connecting to 9 parks and 10 schools.
Spanish Eclectic style homes dominate this neighborhood, though there are also Craftsman bungalows and Mission Revival among the 16 architectural styles displayed in the neighborhood.
