The Buffet Bar is a proud dive bar near downtown Tucson, famous for being the oldest Tucson bar in its original location. The Buffet Bar was first opened as the Lantern Buffet in 1934.
Ted Bair came up with the idea of the Happy Minute. Every day at 6PM you get two drinks for the price of one. And at 11PM, it’s buy one drink, get one for a buck.
The Buffet Bar has been voted one of the best bars in the country by Esquire Magazine, and was featured on MyBartender as one of the best bars. The Buffet Bar claims to sell more Coors Light than any other bar in America.
So what will you find when you visit? Well, first of all, you will really struggle to find parking. Most of the Ironhorse Neighborhood has street parking permits required, so the few diagonal spaces out front, and the smallish gravel parking lot to the East of the building are pretty much the only close spaces. Finding nothing available there, you will have to find a spot down 9th Street towards the Ace Hardware.
Operating hours for The Buffet Bar are Mondays: Noon to 2AM, and Tuesday-Sunday 6AM to 2AM.
The Buffet Bar is a longstanding dive bar with playful, graffitied walls. The Buffet crowd includes college students, lawyers, industry workers, 3rd shifters, locals, historians, business professionals, musicians, and champion pool players. A smorgasbord of eclectic, diverse, and trendy individuals that keep the Buffet Bar one of the best spots in town!
