Happy Fourth of July!
In addition to Summer barbecues, pool parties and outdoor activities, there are many fireworks displays and events in the area to keep you and the kids busy on the Fourth. Here are just a few to get you started on your Fourth of July plans.
The city fireworks celebration will take place from Tucson Convention Center (260 S. Church Ave.) beginning at 7 p.m. on July 4. You may enjoy the fireworks (beginning 9:15 p.m.) from the center's Parking Lot B or Parking Lot C. Parking is free!
Revelers may take the Sun Link streetcar to TCC from the Cushing Street stops. Parking is available at TCC and throughout downtown. The last streetcar will leave the Avenida del Convento stop 30 minutes after fireworks end.
If you want to enjoy the TCC fireworks from a different venue then check out "Food in the Streets, Lights in the Sky" and watch from the MSA Annex (267 S. Avenida del Convento).
There will be live music in the courtyard and food trucks along Avenida Del Convento beginning at 6 p.m.
The event is free.
Oro Valley has a celebration fit for kids and adults! Enjoy a celebration in James D. Kriegh Park (23 W. Calle Concordia) from 5 to 9:30 p.m. on the Fourth.
The free event features face painting, bounce castles and bubble balls for the kids, while the adults enjoy craft beer and wine. Food is available (for a fee) from the 20 food trucks that will be available on site.
Fireworks start at 9 p.m. right over the park!
The adjacent aquatic center is also offering discounted rates of $1 for children and $3 for adults on the Fourth between 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Enjoy and afternoon at the pool and then head to the park for food, fun and fireworks!
Marana's Star Spangled Spectacular starts at 5 p.m. with music, food trucks, inflatables, a beer garden and fireworks (9 p.m.).
The event is free and takes place at Silverbell District Park (7548 N. Silverbell Road). Clear bag rule applies.
** A note to remember for pets: Please do not bring pets to fireworks celebrations. Although we enjoy the lights and noise, they do not. Make sure all pets are safely inside with collars or microchip identification. Pets left outside unattended can jump, dig or break their way out of fences when spooked. Keep every family member safe on the Fourth!
