The south side of Tucson, AZ is all set to welcome in a brand new shopping center. Located on Ajo Way and adjacent to Interstate 10, the ground has been broken for the site of the future shopping center, which will have room for at least seven tenants.
Now, the first two of those seven spaces are off the board.
Rudy's Country Store and BBQ will occupy one of them. The national barbecue chain purchased a parcel of land consisting of over an acre and a half of space for $1.2 million. The plan calls for Rudy's to build a dine-in restaurant.
The other of the two spaces to be snatched up will be occupied by Raising Cane's, which is more of a fast food joint that serves various dishes that are mainly comprised of chicken fingers and fries. Raising Cane's leased approximately 3,200 square feet.
Craig Finfrock of Commercial Retail Advisers LLC, who helped finalize the transactions, said that he believes at least one of the five remaining spaces will be occupied by another restaurant, with the rest being taken by retail. Finfrock hinted that there was already some interest among neighboring businesses, including Pima County Juvenile Court Center, Banner South, Geico and JTED.
