Great Craft Beer Plus Indoor Soccer and Cornhole? Iron John’s Brewing Company

Starting out on Plumer Avenue in 2014, in a tiny little two unit “storage unit” looking store front, this enterprise has really spread its wings. Long story short, Iron John’s Brewing Company moved into an old warehouse building housing a skate park at one end and an Indoor Soccer facility at the other. They now have spread out to include a whole new brewery, purposely crafting small batch brews, and will soon add a new taproom area, and a full service restaurant, including an Italian Pizza Oven. The current taproom will become overflow. And we aren’t going to mention their taproom downtown on Congress Avenue, nor their merger with Monkey Burger, which will soon result in a whole new taproom with an excellent food menu to boot. We’ll save them for a later blog. This is an enterprise with a great local outlook and a serious growth plan.

First off, who is Iron John? Other than telling you he was first written about by the Brothers Grimm in the early 1820s, you will have to look him up on their webpage at: https://www.ironjohnsbrewing.com/who-is-iron-john.

Here in Tucson, Iron John’s Brewing Company's main site is now located at 18th Street and the Nogales Railroad tracks, in the same building as Maracana Indoor Sports Complex (in the Armory Park Industrial Area.). Every Thursday and Friday evening Iron John’s Brewing Company hosts a bean bag throwing contest (also known as Cornhole.) Besides that, there is usually an Indoor Soccer match going on, and you can take your brew with you anywhere in the building to catch the excitement and watch the games.

Their website, with clues to their expansion plans and occasionally a hint of outside events they are taking part in, is: https://www.ironjohnsbrewing.com/.

Hours of the 18th Street Taproom are Thursdays and Fridays 5 PM to Midnight until renovations are complete. 18th Street Taproom phone number is 520-232-2080, but it is suggested you call there during operating hours on Thursdays and Fridays. Otherwise, try the Congress Street Taproom at 520-232-2530.

Being located on 18th Street, Iron John’s Brewing Company is located near many of Tucson’s most historic neighborhoods, to include: Armory Park, Downtown, Millville, Barrio Viejo, Barrio San Antonio, Barrio Santa Rosa, Barrio Ochoa, and Historic 4th Avenue.
