Here’s an Irish themed Pub available on Tucson’ s east side. Murphys Public House opened in 2016 in a space that has gone through numerous iterations since the mid-1960s, with a pre-opening interior and exterior upgrades.
When you enter, you will see a long 12 stool bar, numerous high top and low top tables in two rooms. There is also four outside metal low top tables. Light levels are low, and depending on how many people are there, the sound level might also be low. As the crowds come in, the noise level increases quickly, but still low enough to carry on a conversation. On a recent holiday, the clients went suddenly from one person to twelve, with both younger and older folks enjoying themselves.
Murphys offers 16 beers on tap, most of the common American and Mexican canned and bottled beers, a pretty varied wine selection, and a full bar with an emphasis on Irish whiskeys. As would be expected, Murphys carries Guiness, and the bar tenders know the correct way to pour it.
Keeping in mind the only employee(s) are bartenders, when it gets to jumping, service may slow down a bit, but will always be courteous. Murphys offers a selection of pub style foods to include pizza (frozen dough but fresh ingredients), chicken nuggets and cheese sticks with different sauces, fries and even brats. Of note, outside foods are welcome, and in the evenings there is usually a food truck around the corner at the Arizona Brew House.
Aside from drinks and foods, Murphys offers four pool tables and seven dart boards. If you don’t own your own darts, the bar has them available to players. Of particular interest, there are several time periods daily when pool is free.
There is an ATM machine available just inside the door for those who prefer to use cash but forgot to stop by the bank. There are a number of TVs scattered around the premises to catch your favorite team on.
Murphys Public House is located at 140 S Kolb Rd, but is actually around the corner from the AZ Brew House, in the same plaza as the Gaslight Theater. The closest Tucson neighborhoods to Murphys Public House are Double Acres, Vista del Sahuaros and Palo Verde Park.
